It is the mission of First Baptist Church to worship, serve Christ, and spread the Gospel. We are seeking to fulfill our mission through the various ministries and services that we are offering in our effort to reach others with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Responding to Christ's command that we should "Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost...,"  First Baptist Church actively supports both local mission activities and the worldwide programs of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Locally, our members go out into the community to the unsaved and un-churched.  The church  supports community needs, such as Friends of the Homeless, ICOR, Spanish missions and the Kinston Bible Teaching Federation.  The church has also begun and supported Spilman Memorial Church, Glen Raven, Immanuel, Rivermont, Calvary, and Neuse Chapel, all of which are thriving churches today.

Through awareness of the vast home and foreign mission programs of our denomination, mission study groups are maintained throughout the church. The Woman's Missionary Union, Baptist Men, and Children in Action are active groups within the church.
